Mise en scene blog task

1)The lightning from this image is extremely dark and unsettling with it taking a vast portion of the screen but there is a eerie ray of light splitting straight through. This light is coming from this small door illuminating the characters face. Despite this pasty light colour being  the only alluring thing in this in this image the light takes on a more harsh tone which lacks a lot of energy. Most of it is devoid of vibrancy with the exception of the girls clothes. Both the girl and the cat look towards this light while a doll stares towards with half its face being caught in shadows. Additionally, without this door open the whole scene would be clouded in shadows possibly suggesting how dependant they are on it.

In terms of the actor (characters?) both the girl and the cats attention are focused towards what lies beyond that door/gateway. They're placed in the middle of the screen to drag our own attention towards the light giving the audience the same curiosity that fills them. The pose they adopt while kneeling suggests that both the cat and the girl are captivated by the door and are most likely tempted to step through to find this ominous light.

They're costume opposes the clash of lights with a more warm authentic style shade of color.

The only prop placed in this image is a doll lying beside the girl. The doll itself strangely resembles the girl beside it with the only difference being that its wearing a coat (while indoors). This doll may represent a false sense of reality/identity that the character is in/has. The dolls placement with it staring towards the audience makes the doll a radiate a feeling of dread and confusion. Its placed in a position where the audience may not take notice of it until staring at it for a while, keeping its anonymity till people choose to look deeper.

This desolate setting they're placed in leaves everything shrouded in darkness exist for the wooden floor boards they kneel on.

2)Get Out sunken place (Horror)

Transformers driller attack (Sci fi action adventure)

In Get Out the characters costumes are very casual manner as they're just relaxing in a living room while the actors in transformers are mostly dressed in army camouflage and tactical vests obviously prepared for some type of battle that is about to ensue. Both costumes server a different purpose in Get Out they use casual clothes try to relate to the audience themselves-give them the opportunity to insert themselves into this highly tense scene. While in transformers they're wearing these clothes represent they're occupation in this disastrous predicament. Get out is set in the middle of the night but in a well lit room but in the mans past memory he sits in the darkness with only the TV (the only light present) a distraction from grief. In transformers its shot in the light of day as they aren't aiming to create any type of fear or give any sense of thrill since that's not what this demographic would like. The actors placed in transformers are also a lot more famous compared to the ones in Get Out but express less emotion through there faces. The props used in transformers are violent weapon to challenge there adversaries (Guns usually are always in action movies) but in Get Out the use of the tea cup is used in a peculiar way in which it hypnotises the victim that hears it.
