Blinded By The Light
1) BBTL's budget was 15 million USD
2) Bend It films (Creators of BBTL) were involved with other films like Bend it Like Beckham, Bride & prejudice and several other films representing different cultures and giving a new perspective.
3)Warner Brothers pictures is in the forefront of the motion picture industry with them distributing high quality films for consumers to enjoy and be entertained by. They mostly appeal to a mainstream audience and were founded in 1923. (Investor of BBTL) New line cinema has a successful history of producing critically adored films that can catch the interest of both niche and mainstream audiences. The studio is also known for revitalising R rated comedy. New line cinema has been a unit of Warner Bro's since 2008 they work separately but coordinate it with Warner Bros maximise they're performance.
4) Levantine (Investor of BBTL) are an independent motion picture production company that was founded in 2012. They've been nominated three academy awards. They're "mission" is to develop and finance compelling character driven stories that entertain/spark conversation and bring awareness to under-represented segments of society.
5) BBTL director Gurinda Chadha was attracted to this project due to her also being a fan of spring steins music and because she knows first-hand what it feels like to be an outsider so she likes to make movies revolving around immigrant experiences. The only way she was going to be able to make the movie though was by getting Springsteen's permission to use the music and sell it to them at a much lower price otherwise it would cost far too much.
Production and distribution
1) New line Cinema bought the movies distribution rights at the all night auction for $15 million.
2) The auction was rumoured to involve Fox Searchlight, Lionsgate and a few others.
3) The allure of BBTL for the companies was the surprisingly universal appeal to Springsteen's music with it telling coming of age tunes that can be liked by anyone.
4) The article also suggests that Bruce Springsteen played a minor but significant role in the production of the movie as without him the movie wouldn't have been made. Bruce supports BBTL's message and what it represents.
5) eOne creates and distributes world class television and film content. They claim to have the reach of a studio and the flexibility of an indie film/show.
Promotion and Reception
1) From the trailer i can tell that the films genre is most likely a musical coming of age story with some family drama. There seems to be a lot of scenes where we can tell the movie tries to tackle racism and attempts to use social realism. The audience may be able to find pleasure through there personal identity as they could relate to the struggles of not being accepted or there family repressing there ideals and goals for there careers future.
2) The posters of BBTL usually featured the main character smiling listening to music through his headphones foreshadowing his love springsteens music.
3) The director Gurinda was interviewed on Heyuguys, the cast were interviewed from Fandango all access and the writer at Daves cave.
4) Interviews from newspapers, Tv shows and websites are good way to promote a film due to it simply being free promotion that can spread around the media possibly increasing the amount of people who become aware of BBTL's presence.
5) The BBTL's twitter account maintains interest for the film by granting consumers a place where they can view any new information or clips of the film if they're interested. Its also another way of getting free promotion.
6) Just like the twitter account it grants free promotion but it also creates a community for people who have watched the film as the facebook account is still active.
7) The facebook account for BBTL most likely has posts supporting black lives matter due to the film also tackling a similar issue with racial discrimination. Audiences that related to or liked the plot of BBTL would most likely support this movement.

Almost all of the images on Instagram seem to have a rotten tomatoes logo on them to show how highly the movie was regarded by people and critics. They also show the main characters dynamics with them all being cheerful and dancing to the music.
9) Gurinda introduces the channel with a flurry of her other films that she has probably created or was involved with. The youtube channel seems to consist of several interviews and trailers with a few videos looking at conferences.
10) Blinded by the light made about 18.1 million USD at box office. I believe the film wasn't as successful as it could have been due to the movie trying its hardest to take on a lotta of peoples problems and issues. It seemed to want to tackle all of them head on but because of this its quite hard to make the story satisfying as at certain points of the story it felt like the film should have ended but continued due to another problem having not been solved yet. They may have had a more interesting and simple story if they cut out the unnecessary moments in the story which establish and develop some of the characters relationships but seems to be a minor sub plot that usually had an unsatisfying end. I believe if the film also decided not to spend as much money on its promotion they could have cut down on some of their costs and as a result probably performed a whole lot better at the box office.
